THESE amazingly realistic beasts are actually….cakes. They have been baked by bakers all over the world who have united to raise awareness of endangered species. The idea was cooked up by concerned baker Zoe Fox, 36, from Leicestershire, who called on fellow bakers across the globe to help her spread the conservation message. Mrs Fox, a mother of two, said: ‘There is not enough awareness about animal conservation - and I wanted to help try and improve that. ‘Otherwise our children are going to grow up in a world where these animals no longer exist.’ The amazing cakes are of all endangered species, such as the pygmy elephant, the black footed ferret, the Lowland gorilla and the Spanish Imperial Eagle, and even a life size tiger, crafted by Zoe herself. The cakes have been baked from a far across the globe as the USA, Australia and Malaysia. Mrs Fox, who runs her own cake business Sweet Foxylicious Cakes, said: ‘The tiger cake took over 300 hours to create. It took over the whole kitchen and its become a big part of our family life. ‘It was eventually eaten at a gala dinner in Birmingham, and my daughters named it Tony.’ The cakes have been created by more than 20 cake makers across the globe who have called themselves Bakers Unite to Fight. Mrs Fox added: ‘I want to raise global awareness of the plight of these great creatures. There are so many wild animal species now at the risk of extinction and if we don’t do something about it now, then they will be gone for good and we won’t be able to bring them back.’ Pictures via:- Lucy Laing

/Telegrafi/
