The deal that halted Wagner's march to topple military leaders in Moscow is likely to fail, according to a US think tank.

According to foreign media, the Telegraph reports, rumors are circulating that the Wagner forces are returning to Russia from Belarus and are expecting new commands soon, ISW said.

Vladimir Putin has "failed to decisively resolve" the consequences of Wagner's June rebellion, the institute is quoted as saying.


"Sources connected to Wagner claimed that Wagner's main forces will be 'activated' at the end of August, but gave no details," ISW said.

He added that speculation about Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu taking over Russian military operations in Africa from Wagner is "infuriating Wagner's staff."
