Rama is convinced: I would even beat Albin Kurti for mayor of Pristina, let him run as a candidate

The Mayor of Pristina, Përparim Rama, has made a request to the acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, inviting him to run for mayor of the capital in the upcoming elections.

Rama expressed confidence that he would defeat Kurti in a direct confrontation.

"I had suggested to Albin Kurti to run because I know he really wants the position of mayor of the capital. So don't put someone there, you'll just lose and burn, and I'll run myself, which is not good. I think Albin Kurti is not interested in the development of the capital, the economic or urban development of an area. He is interested in history, he is interested in philosophy, so I have no doubt that he defeated him in the capital," said Rama.

Rama has officially confirmed that he will run for a second term as mayor of the capital.

Rama said that despite the challenges and political obstacles, he is determined to continue the work and projects for the development of the city.

"I ask citizens to reflect and see that despite these problems, there has been no more development. We will not stop and there is no one to stop us except the vote of the citizens. Yes, I will be a candidate for mayor of Pristina. I trust the electorate, I believe they see," said Rama, as he expressed his confidence in victory.

"I definitely will," he said.

Rama has accused the acting Minister of Culture, Hajrulla Çeku, of spreading lies and lack of cooperation on key projects for the capital.

"When this man came to us, he asked for space for a theater. We have been open and have offered him space and we have collaborated, but also for several other projects. We have been waiting for him for some time and he does not realize those projects. But here this minister, whom we have helped with everything, comes out and tells lies that naturally disregard his character. He has lied about such things as well," said Rama.

He said that despite calls for cooperation on strategic projects such as the Capital Ring Road and the Olympic Village, acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti has conditioned everything on political involvement in Vetëvendosje.

"Yes, the meeting was normal. I have asked to meet with Kurti every time on the issue of the capital. In September 2023, when we took the lead in hosting the Mediterranean Games, I told him and begged him that now we have a duty to cooperate. The capital ring road is coming. The Olympic village is coming. Infrastructure developments are coming and please do not block them. He said: 'Come with us and there is no problem'. I said: 'How about with us? I am with us. Who is with us? We are all with us. I do not want to talk to the leader of VV, but to the Prime Minister of Kosovo. It is clear that the acting Prime Minister does not see Kosovo, nor Albania, nor Albanians, nor anything beyond where VV is. As far as VV is, there is Kosovo, as far as VV is, there is Albania. This is a flawed ideology, an ideology whose time has passed. It is autocracy. He does not want democracy, but autocracy. This is a danger "Great for our country," said Rama.

He warned that the malfunctioning of institutions and the blocking of infrastructure projects by the Government could seriously jeopardize the holding of the Mediterranean Games in Kosovo.

"Even for the Mediterranean Games, because with this failure to create institutions, this too could be at risk, we need this infrastructure since yesterday, but these people are playing games. It is normal that if this process continues and we do not create institutions, they are at risk," said Rama. /RTV21/
