The Government of Kosovo 'relaxes' the security measure for Serbian goods

The Government of Kosovo has made a decision to ease the security measures against goods originating from Serbia.

The Chamber of Commerce of Kosovo has confirmed that the Government recently decided to remove the security measure only for raw material and semi-finished goods.

The President of the Chamber, Lulëzim Rafuna, has emphasized that OEK has been notified of the removal of the security measures for raw material and semi-finished products.

Meanwhile, the Government of Kosovo has not responded regarding the "softening" of the security measure for Serbian goods.

On June 14, the Government of Kosovo decided to tighten border controls with Serbia. This decision came after the arrest of three members of the Kosovo Police by Serbian forces.

During a media conference, Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that the purpose of this decision is to increase border control.

"For security reasons, as an immediate and necessary step, border controls with Serbia have been tightened, limiting traffic and increasing controls on vehicles coming from Serbia, especially transport ones," Kurti said.

In the four municipalities in the north of Kosovo, since May 26 there have been successive developments, the Serbs protested violently for several days, where they tried to enter the facilities of the municipalities by force.

Serbian criminal groups attacked KFOR soldiers, police and media crews. The recent developments in the north have provoked harsh reactions from internationals who also asked the Government of Kosovo to reduce tensions. /KP/
