She went into the sea to film corals, a pack of sharks attacked the diver in Australia - she miraculously escaped

A group of divers were dramatically attacked by sharks last week while they were exploring a remote coral lagoon.

Footage captured the terrifying encounter as a team of divers filmed marine life beneath the waves at Middleton Reef, off the coast of New South Wales, Australia.

Just minutes after their first dive, a group of Galapagos sharks, otherwise known as gray reef whalers, attacked a diver carrying a camera.

A video shows how the sea predators quickly closed in after rising from below in a sudden burst of chaos. Within seconds, at least ten of them collided with the diver, who desperately pushed them away underwater.

Despite their fury, none of the sharks bit or bared their teeth. One even headbutted the diver in the face without opening its mouth.

Experts say the sharks may have mistaken the lights for feeding activity. The diver escaped unharmed and the crew returned to the water a short time later to continue filming.

Footage of the near-miss has since gone viral, racking up over 2.4 million views online. There have been more than 1,200 shark attacks in Australia since 1791, of which more than 250 were fatal, according to a national database. /Telegraph/
